Although most of the teams who utilize our service are high school dance teams, we also serve other
performance groups, such as equine trick riders, theaters, aerialists, and water ski teams. One of our long-
standing customers is such a team, Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team in Florida, a remarkable group of
athletes who showcase their incredible skills and artistry through the thrilling sport of water skiing! I
don’t know how they do it. I can’t even get up on a ski!
Led by a passionate and experienced coaching staff, most of whom have been teaching over 30 years, the
team works hard to showcase their skills amongst a wide range of ages and abilities. Diane Engberg, one
of the coaches, says that the wide range of ages is what creates her biggest challenge when trying to group
them by ability
The team performs for free for the community. Diane explains, “We teach each age group how to do
different show ski acts.” However, they do not only perform. The team also hosts underprivileged groups
and summer camps. Diane described the handicap clinics that they host. She says it is their goal to
“teach everyone who wants to ski.” Perhaps I should attend!
The coaches’ dedication to precision and mastery is evident in every trick, turn, and formation. Whether
it’s acrobatic jumps, slalom skiing, or graceful ballet-like routines, the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team
continuously raises the bar and sets new standards in the world of water skiing. Diane’s favorite part of
coaching is “watching each newbie finally have success!”
Through their performances, the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team not only represents their own team and
organization but also serves as ambassadors for the sport, inspiring others to pursue their own water
skiing passions.
